Design in Dialog

This booklet is one of three results of an assignment given by Patrick Coppens at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. The project was a collaboration between Simen Palm, Jonas Sætervik and myself.

The assignment was to create a flowchart of the Adobe InDesign software application, with specific focus on tools, and incorporate our own process in this flowchart.

The booklet above is the result of a two-day workshop, and it was organized as a role-play of sorts. One person was "InDesign", one was "the graphic designer" and the last one "the art director". Via iChat, the graphic designer told InDesign what commands to execute, in detail, without (the graphic designer) having the chance to see the design develop. Every hour or so, InDesign sent an exported version of the booklet to the art director, which in turn gave feedback to the graphic designer. The content of the booklet is the iChat conversation between the graphic designer and InDesign, as well as the email correspondence between the graphic designer and the art director. Puh!
